Job Summary:

The MIBH currently seeks a full-time Behavioral Health (BH) clinician who will work within an interdisciplinary team setting. The position will provide individual BH patient assessments to determine the level of behavioral and psychological function and subsequent treatment recommendations. As part of the treatment experience for patients at the MIBH, the BH practitioner will provide education and trauma informed therapy for IOP cohorts consisting of approximately six - ten patients. The position must adhere to the State of Colorado Code of Ethics for his/her relevant discipline.

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting initial health and behavior assessments for individual patients during the evaluation phase of care
  • Communicating results of the assessment to the interdisciplinary team and the patient in a professional and culturally competent manner (military and responder)
  • Working independently and within an interdisciplinary team to implement a treatment plan and adjust it according to clinical needs of the patient
  • Providing individual education and trauma informed behavioral health treatment addressing a wide range of behavioral and social aspects of brain health
  • Conducting education for individuals, groups, and family members with a focus on sleep, mood regulation, anxiety reduction strategies, and overall brain health
  • Building relationships with patients that foster early communication of risky situations to allow for preventative interventions
  • Preparing appropriate documentation in a timely and culturally sensitive manner including evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and charges
  • Assist in developing program processes, policies and procedures, and best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:
  • Master's degree in social work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling
  • Colorado license in their professional discipline or ability to obtain license
  • 3 years direct patient care experience with patients with TBI and behavioral health problems
  • 3 years direct experience in evidence-supported clinical trauma resolution techniques such as EMDR, PE, CPT, or Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Senior Instructor:
  • Master's degree in social work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling
  • Colorado license in their professional discipline or ability to obtain license
  • 3 years direct patient care experience with patients with TBI and behavioral health problems

Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling

Preferred Qualifications (all ranks)
  • 5 years direct patient care experience with patients with TBI and behavioral health problems
  • PhD in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling preferred
  • Clinical experience working with military Veterans and active-duty service members
  • Clinical experience working with individuals with sleep problems, chronic suicidality, chronic pain, and addiction
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders
  • Advanced certification such as Certified Brain Injury Specialist
  • Experience in clinical program development
