Georgetown University Medical Center's Neurology department is seeking a motivated and skilled Clinical Research Fellow to join our Movement Disorders Division. This fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in clinical and translational research, focusing on the understanding and treatment of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other related conditions. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of leading experts in the field, contributing to innovative research projects aimed at improving patient care and advancing scientific knowledge in movement disorders. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Help conduct and implement several clinical trials.
  • Conduct and coordinate clinical and translational research projects in the field of movement disorders.
  • Design and implement research protocols, including clinical trials and observational studies.
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including neurologists and other healthcare professionals, to develop comprehensive research strategies.
  • Assist with grant writing and the preparation of research proposals.
  • Engage in patient evaluations and contribute to clinical assessments under supervision.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in movement disorders research and treatments.


Work Interactions

As an employee of Georgetown University, the Clinical Research Fellow directly supports the University's mission of Cura Personalis. Clinical Trials offer a unique opportunity for a patient to receive personalized and comprehensive care in a manner that they may not experience otherwise as a patient. The Clinical Research fellow will enable patients with Movement Disorders to have more opportunities to participate in Clinical Trials with a focus on increasing the diversity of participants that participate in clinical trials. In the overall scheme of the Georgetown University Medical Center, this position indirectly and directly supports multiple departments. From a fiscal perspective, the indirect/overhead costs generated by clinical trials support the GUMC operating costs. Daily, the Clinical Research Fellow will report to the Director of Clinical Trials and two Principal Investigators. The Clinical Research Fellow is part of a robust team comprised of four research coordinators, the Director of Clinical Trials, Two Principal Investigators and up to 4 student hires.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in Neurology, Neuroscience, or a related field
  • Strong interest and background in movement disorders, clinical neurology, or neurodegenerative diseases
  • Experience with clinical research, including knowledge of study design, data collection methods, and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research setting with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of scientific publications
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for clinical research and ethical guidelines
  • Highly detail oriented, organized, able to follow directions, able to work respectfully in a team, highly motivated, and committed to providing exceptional service
  • Must be able to demonstrate moral and ethical responsibility and always maintain professionalism


Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience with neuroimaging, neurophysiology, or biomarker research related to movement disorders
  • Prior involvement in Parkinson's disease or dystonia research
  • Proficiency in statistical software and data management platforms

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
